Why Access Matters
4.4 million people in Australia have a disability; of these, 90% experience challenges with communication or mobility, require assistance with self-care, and have limited opportunities for education and employment. There are also 2.6 million carers who provide support to people living with disability.
With such a significant number of people affected by disability, the benefits of providing access to the built environment can be measured both socially and economically. Reducing barriers to people with disability and their carers also greatly diminishes the risk of discrimination and associated complaints.
Good access simply makes good business sense.
