AO temporary structures - Emirates, Tanqueray, Rolex and Peroni

Australian Open 2024

Recognised as one of the most accessible and inclusive events in Australia, Architecture & Access are proud to have been associated with the event for over a decade.

The Australian Open Tennis Tournament is a feature of summer in Melbourne and in 2024 the event soared to a record high attendance with 1,110,657 people passing through the Melbourne Park entry gates for the 2-week tournament.

The event occurs across two sites in central Melbourne.  Melbourne Park hosts the tennis tournament and an extensive temporary overlay for hospitality, retail, merchandising and entertainment purposes. Birrarung Marr is the venue for the immersive family friendly kid’s play zone (the Ballpark on Lower terrace) and hospitality/entertainment offerings that are open to the public on the Upper terrace.

The event is delivered by Tennis Australia and a large cohort of partners. Architecture & Access are one of the Access Consultancy companies who work in partnership to deliver the infrastructure for the event. Engaged directly by event partners we work to deliver temporary activations and structures that are accessible for all attendees at the event. The scope of the temporary structures for the event is varied with grandstands, viewing platforms, food & beverage bars/outlets; interactive & immersive experiences; retail outlets, merchandising stalls, entertainment stages, hospitality suites, sponsor display areas and event amenities constructed specifically for the event.

Our role includes consultation with the event partners; providing design and construction advice for specific structures; completing site inspections; and providing construction acceptance statements and performance solution reports.
