An event where everyone can smell the roses
This much-loved event is held annually for 5 days in late March at the world heritage site of Carlton Gardens and the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne. The international event attracts over 100,000 visitors and has more than 800 exhibitors. Architecture & Access are proud to have been associated with the event for many years.
The event is a huge feat, with the construction of many elaborate and intricate temporary structures, with all looking truly amazing. The temporary structure types vary in their design, size and function, including exhibitor structures, displays, food/beverage outlets and event amenities.
Structures are installed for the duration of the event and are not in locations where permanent structures are normally present. With so many temporary structures required, making sure the structures and the areas surrounding them are accessible is critical. This allows all people to maneuver to and around the show and enjoy all there is to offer.
Architecture & Access were engaged by IMG Event Operations Australia to provide Access Consultant advice for the event. Consultancy works completed for the International Flower and Garden Show included: –

- Provision of Performance Solutions
An important part of our service is providing performance solution assessments. A Performance Solution is a means of achieving compliance with National Construction Code. Architecture & Access has deep knowledge and vast experience which is required to complete the Performance Solution assessment process to ensure constructed structures comply with the relevant requirements of the National Construction Code.
We collaborate with all stakeholders to develop solutions that not only ensure compliance with mandatory legislation and standards, but also meet the specific requirements and constraints of each project. For temporary events, performance solutions are often necessary to ensure the built environment can be returned to its original state following the event duration.
The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is the largest horticultural event in the Southern hemisphere and rated among the top five flower and garden shows in the world. Architecture & Access is proud to contribute to this beautiful event.
