The Wyndham Law Court, located in Werribee, is now complete, marking a major investment in modern, inclusive justice facilities for Melbourne’s rapidly growing western corridor.
With a development value of $270–$275 million, the new precinct provides a purpose-built environment designed to meet the needs of all court users—from plaintiffs and defendants to judges, lawyers, witnesses, and staff. Its carefully planned layout demonstrates how thoughtful design can make the administration of justice safer, more efficient, and welcoming for everyone.
The five-level, 25,000 m2 building integrates public, operational and secure zones to ensure smooth, safe movement throughout the facility. Clear circulation pathways, separation of secure and public areas, and equitable access features contribute to a coherent civic building that balances safety, dignity and operational efficiency.
Architecture & Access was engaged by Lyons to provide access consulting services across all project phases, from the Masterplan in 2022 through to construction. Early involvement ensured accessibility was embedded into the design strategy rather than treated as an afterthought.

Working collaboratively with the architect, consultants, and key stakeholders, we guided compliance with relevant standards while promoting inclusive design outcomes. Given the complexity of a court environment—where public, private, and secure circulation must operate independently yet cohesively—close coordination was essential. Through design reviews, workshops, and site inspections, we assisted the project team in resolving access considerations in a practical and integrated manner, supporting spaces that are intuitive, dignified, and usable for all abilities.
Now operational, the Wyndham Law Court stands as a significant civic landmark for the west. It demonstrates how early engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration can embed accessibility as a fundamental component of public infrastructure. Architecture & Access is proud to have contributed to a justice facility that supports participation by everyone in the community.
