Professional Excellence in Accessibility and CPTED.
This month, we’re celebrating Lisa Ham, a valued team member who recently reached an impressive milestone – 9 years with Architecture & Access.
As a POD Leader and Senior Access and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) Consultant, Lisa plays a pivotal role in guiding her team of accessibility consultants and delivering projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.
With a background in interior design, architecture and project management, and a Diploma in Access Consulting, Lisa brings decades of experience in the architecture and construction industries. Her work spans sectors including local government, health, transport and sport and recreation – always with a focus on creating environments that are accessible, inclusive, and safe for all users.
Lisa is also a CPTED consultant, applying her expertise to assess and enhance the safety and security of public spaces through thoughtful design.
Drawing on principles such as natural surveillance, territorial reinforcement, and access control, Lisa helps clients identify and mitigate crime risks in settings ranging from transport hubs to public parks.
“In my role as an access consultant, it is a privilege to bridge the gap between design and inclusivity and provide environments for everyone, regardless of ability,” Lisa says.
“I enjoy advocating for a world where barriers are removed, and everyone has the opportunity to participate, engage and thrive.”
Lisa’s recent projects include:
- Access audits for the City of Yarra, Melbourne Town Hall and Bacchus Marsh Tennis Club
- Compliance reviews at Melbourne Airport and Virgin Australia lounges
- Access consulting for the Suburban Rail Loop and the Royal Melbourne Hospital Neuropsychiatry unit
Recent CPTED projects include:
- Charles Darwin University Student Accommodation
- Albert Park Pit Building
Lisa’s CPTED consulting is grounded in professional training and practical experience, equipping her with the tools to assess and transform urban environments for enhanced safety and livability.

Her ability to translate CPTED theory into actionable design strategies ensures that spaces not only meet aesthetic and functional goals but also foster a sense of security and community ownership.
